Lasers

Got a bit too into shooting people at Laserquesting and came 3rd out of 7, which I think is respectable. Only beaten by the birthday girl and the boss, so office politics satisfied! Sadly, my colleagues and I were put on the same team so we were only supposed to shoot random strangers (mostly kids), although I did 'accidentally' shoot most of the office once or twice - got to take these opportunities when they arise.

Went to a dodgy but very cheap curryhouse in Bradford afterwards - £55 for 8 people, who all had starters and main course. Only 2 people got food poisoning.

Looking forward to travelling on the famous Settle to Carlisle train route this afternoon, and intend to stay in a B&B tonight to make a weekend of this trip for the ebay car we are collecting. The only downside is that I'm missing beer and a baptism in Northampton :-( Hope those in Northampton have a great weekend.

I'm pleased to see that four people have now viewed this blog, which is pleasing as only four friends know it exists!

Plans for tomorrow

Well, Blackpool is off, having been replaced by Laserquesting in Castleford tomorrow night. I am hoping to do well and avoid the shame of last place. Off for a curry in some dodgy place in Bradford afterwards - all the nice places have an alcohol ban and as we are going to celebrate a colleague's 21st this was not on! Work on Friday will be subdued if we consume too many cheap beers.

Can a boss ever be friends with the rest of the staff, especially in a small firm? Can you have a few beers one night then tell someone off for not working properly the next day? Sometimes this can lead to more resentment than would be the case during a normal telling off. Is it better to keep clear boundaries, or is that a bit of a cop-out?

I received the annual missive from Fabian this week. I must remember that my general emails to Midland Leg are read by him and extracts may be published without my permission!

Just had a phone call telling me I am going with my German to pick up the fourth car he's bought on ebay in the past few months. A day trip in Carlisle on Saturday, it seems.

Greetings!!

Thought I would catch up with the rest of you modern types and get my own blog. Not entirely sure what I will record for posterity, but no doubt inspiration will strike eventually!

My boss suggested a work outing to Blackpool on Thursday evening next week, so might be enjoying Lancashire hospitality soon.
